The "cat test"!

"Today I had to do a 'cat test' So here I am trying hard to behave myself and pretend that the cat is not there. My foster Mum said I did very well and I would be a good candidate for living with a cat."

Harry Potter Helper!

OK, dont you want to immediately adopt this puppy! Sooooooo cute! She loves to sit by you as you read or watch the television. She also loves to play ball and go walks, she is ready to play when you are and ready to snuggle when you are!

THE FACTS!!!

Maaike is a four and a half month old shepherd/hound mix puppy.

She is sweet, submissive, and a little shy. She loves to snuggle with you and to play with other gentle dogs.

She is reliably housetrained and settles well in her crate.

She likes to take walks on leash and enjoys a good game of retrieve with a ball or toy. She is very comical as she plays with her paws in a very goofy way!

She is living in a very boisterous household whch she tolerates very well. However, she is sensitive about being grabbed and her adopters should have some experience of shy dogs or be willing to learn good handling skills. (A course of training lessons is free for her adopters)

A fenced yard would be nice for her (but is not a requisite) as she loves to explore outside and yake naps in the sun.

Maaike is truly one of those "melt you heart dogs"!

My favourite activity

Maaike loves to take walks in the neighbourhood. Here she is with dog and people friends coming home from a long midday walk.

I did not chew this carpet

"Let me get one thing clear, I did not chew this carpet. It must have been one of the other foster puppies, maybe Tiffany or Shuka or Phoenix. They all found great families to adopt them, I know I will sometime soon."

Too much fun!

A new human arrived in the house! It is Willem who has been away at camp! I love him and shower him with kisses!

Ready to play

After a week Maaike is strong and ready for fun. She is the cleanest puppy we have ever had and is reliably housetrained. She has never had even one "mistake" in the house. Amazing for a 4 month old puppy from the shelter! She sleeps quietly in her crate in the living room both at night and during the day. We have never had such an easy puppy! Will she stay this way!!?

Recovering

We fed her well and gave her the prescribed medications. She slept a lot at first while Pipo watched over her. He stopped sleeping on our bed at night and instead chose to stay with Maaike.

Maaike the "beloved"

We brought this sweet puppy home from the shelter emaciated and with pneumonia. The shelter had done their best to care for her but she was not thriving. We took her to give her some TLC and a chance to recover. We called her Maaike which is a Dutch name and means "beloved"
